Mark Kusin

From this brief précis you will appreciate that Mark Kusin is a legend within the sport of dragon boating. Mark’s code of ethics dictates that the sport is greater than the individual and he leads by example.
At the National Championships in 1995 Mark was in the Western Australian team that won the Open Mixed Division. This was the start of his hunger for more “bling”.
He went on to win a further seven State Championships in various categories.
In 1996 he attended the World International Championships in Singapore and his team came sixth.
Volunteering highlights
Also in 1996 Mark became a director on the state executive board for the Western Australia Dragon Boat Association and is currently on the executive board for Dragon Boats Western Australia. He has been involved with constitutional reviews and writing up the risk assessments for the national body.
Mark has been the manager (President) of Forza since 2001 and unlike other sports, it is a job for life.
Apart from paddling for “bling”, since 1997 Mark has managed regional events in Carnarvon, Dampier, Esperance and recently the inaugural regatta in Denmark.
Mark has also been responsible for setting up six team building events for the corporate sector.
From 2002 to 2004 each week in term 2, Mark, took time out from his work to run the physical education period for the year 10 students. That involved setting up a dragon boat, paddles and associated safety gear ready at the Bunbury Rowing Club for the arrival of the 22 students for that session.
