Broome Sailing Club

Broome Sailing Club

The club faces many challenges with no designated base to operate from, and many operational and logistical dilemmas to overcome. A small membership base means raising revenue has its own drawbacks. Yet, by choosing to meet these challenges in a positive way the club is developing rapidly.

Broome Sailing Club's highlights:

Regulars at last year’s CDO seminars, the committee successfully applied for funding to ensure the club will host its inaugural regatta in August. Some simple fundraising initiatives and another successful grant application has ensured the imminent arrival in March of a much needed rescue boat. The club is developing its identity by utilising its website and creating a facebook page to ensure it communicates with established members and opens itself up to potential new ones.

Broome Sailing Club's club and volunteering challenges:

The committee is now focussing on creating a business plan. It has already created valuable links on its website including a section dedicated to the clubs key documents, and working with the Shire on a possible storage facility. The Broome Sailing club is committed to educating and improving the skills of its members and will run youth and adult training courses throughout the year. They are also making use of the BRAC facility by holding its AGM on February 22nd.
